I graduated from the University of Leeds in 2020 with a first class integrated master’s degree in Natural Sciences, where I focussed on applied mathematics and statistical mechanics. Keen to apply myself to real-world challenges, I then spent a year as a data scientist at the Leeds Institute for Data Analytics. My work there included using spatial microsimulation to model consumer behaviour with Procter & Gamble, and a secondment at the Bradford Institute for Health Research where I conducted spatiotemporal analysis to inform the local council’s Covid-19 response and vaccine rollout, with a focus on addressing health inequalities in the area. As part of the Compass programme I am working with AstraZeneca on a project using Bayesian learning to identify impurities in pharmaceuticals, and I am looking forward to extending existing skills and developing new ones during the course of sophisticated, impactful research.
