About Me

Hey there! My name is Mauro, I’m from Verona but studied Mathematics in Southampton, UK. I’m passionate about Basketball, Chess, Partner Dancing, Cooking, and Technology in general. I have a Machine Learning blog where I post about papers that I have recently read and various topics in Statistics and Machine Learning.

Research Interests

My PhD focuses on developing new representation learning methods such as Normalizing Flows, Variational Autoencoders and Generative Adversarial Networks to improve inference in simulator-based models with application in Population Genetics and Biology. I’m very happy to be supervised by Christophe Andrieu and Mark Beaumont.

Responsibilities

I am currently co-organizing the Neural Network Reading Group with Pierre-Aurelien Gilliot. I am also organizing the COMPASS Student Seminar Series. Outside of academia, I like to dance Modern Jive and I am the president of the Modern Jive society.
